On June 18, 2020, Colgate-Palmolive told Reuters that it will, “review and evolve” its top selling toothpaste in China. One may wonder in a marketing and branding cultural transformation taking place in the USA, how does a Chinese brand get an immediate and notable mention. In this episode we take a closer look at the brand, its history and how current heightened racial and cultural awareness have turned the spotlight on it.
You will also hear the 3Rs to remember in International Marketing, Branding and Advertising.

Good one, very pertinent points. On a side note, an interesting question though - do you think the consumers themselves inflict some of this racial discrimination unconsciously- most of my Chinese colleagues, for instance, have an english name as well and while it is partly to help colleagues from other countries pronounce it easier but strikes a bit odd. So, while there is a learning on cultural decorum in this topic but is there a deeper insight to be tapped in a more culturally +ve way?

The topic is very timely, given the recent discussions about racial issues. You brought up a few good points and made me ponder more about how brands/companies have somewhat normalised racism, to the extent that those who are not "enlightened" would not ponder more. Extremely well researched and many insightful examples as well! I also like the last portion where you summarised your recommendations into 3 Rs, makes it easy to remember and take away.
